Tips on Finding Great Deals Online

by Teri | August 14, 2009

For our Deal Roundup this week, I thought I’d share some of my deal seeking knowledge with you all.  Everyday, I often find several amazing deals before choosing my favorite as the “Dukky Deal Pick” on Twitter.

Finding the right deals takes some time at first, but once you have a routine, the savings adds up and the time it takes to find the good stuff decreases.

Most importantly, you need to visit a bunch of sites to find the best deals. I visit between 15 – 20 every day. I’ve listed a bunch of my favorites at the bottom this post to help get you started.

Easiest thing to do for the websites, is to add them to your favorites list or bookmark them in your web browser. Although we have listed a few of the ones we check here, there a hundred or more websites out there with the same, if not better, information.

Another step would be to subscribe to the RSS feeds of deal blogs and websites, so that you can receive updates on deals in real-time.

Have any good websites to recommend? Let us know! Either reply to this post, or Direct Message us on Twitter @dukkytweets

Happy Hunting.

To get you started, here is a list of websites (in no particular order) that we periodically check out for deals:

Dealnews.com – a lovely compilation of mostly tech deals. Has a nice “hotness” meter for you to determine what others think of the posted deal.

Bradsdeals.com – a great compilation of good deals that they are provided and those that they come across while searching the web.  Anything from home décor to apparel to technology.

Couponcabin.com – lots of coupons, mostly grocery, but still can save you a good chunk of change on your next trip to the store.

Gizmodo.com – they have their own version of deals of the day called Dealzmodo, and often have pretty good choices for video games and electronics.

Retailmenot.com – large list of user submitted coupons, has a meter that shows whether or not the coupon works or not, allowing users to determine when the coupon expires.  The site does have a lot of really good coupons, but does take a while to browse through them all.

Cheapstingybargains.com
– another great deal compiler. A popular deals column on the left-hand side lists the top promotions of that day.
